A passport is a formal document, issued by the government of a country to its citizens, that makes you eligible to visit foreign countries. It’s a crucial identity proof that substantiates your citizenship.
You visit to make memories, spend quality time together with your family or friends, take a business trip, or go meet someone, either in your own country or somewhere else. If you’re travelling abroad, then you’ll want to carry your passport with you; however, you won’t need your passport if you’re travelling within your own country.
You should apply for a passport well beforehand if you’ve got to travel out of the country. The passport, once issued, is typically valid for 10 years, after which you’ve got to reapply for an equivalent.

Manual Submission of Applications

submission of the application form from home for a passport requires that you appear in person at the Passport Office with the completed application form and a character-attested carbon copy of all supporting confirmation. A colour snapshot (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) with a white background should be attached to the original papers as well as the photocopy.
The clerk at the DPC counter will validate your application form, and after this has been completed, you’ll be eligible to pay the costs in the form of a demand draught (DD).
After paying the cost, you’ll be able to pick up the acknowledgement letter, which will include a token number. The token number may be used to track the status of the token by selecting the ‘Track Application Status’ option from the drop-down menu.
